Standard home drug testing kits usually detect illegal substance abuse for only one type of a drug at a time resulting in a failure to accurately assess a teenagers history of drug use. Even small amounts of urine leakage can be drawn into the vacuum tube containing the blood specimen and contaminate it. Urine specimens should be placed in a ziplock” biohazard bag that is in turn placed in another biohazard bag with any other samples from the patient.
However, isomorphic RBCs are not specific to glomerular disease and can be seen with a number of extraglomerular (AIN and renal cell carcinoma) and extrarenal processes (nephrolithiasis, urologic cancers, urinary tract infections, excessive anticoagulation, etc).
Although automated urinalysis systems with a certified central laboratory performing microscopy are time saving, standardized, and cost-effective, cardiac marker they are not reliable to diagnose various kidney diseases such as ATN, glomerulonephritis, vasculitis, or crystalline-related kidney disease.

Though it may be ordered by a physician as part of a routine checkup, your doctor may ask you to have the test performed in order to check for a disease or infection of your urinary tract, or as a means of examining the efficacy of treatments for certain conditions.
With microscopic analysis, the number of cells in the urine can be estimated, and the number of cells (white blood cells, red blood cells, epithelial cells, and bacteria) in the urine is reported as the number of cells seen in one high power field (number of cells viewed in one field under the highest magnification of the microscope lens ).
The change from urine microscopy to urinary flow cytometry has been accompanied by a significant decrease in imprecision ( 15 ). Because urinalysis test strips are often used for checking urinary flow cytometry data ( 11 ), there is a need for a more quantitative evaluation of urinalysis test strips.

If UTI or other obvious causes have been excluded, imaging of the urinary tract is indicated (see Urinary tract imaging - informed decision making ” and Figure 1 ). Assessment by an Urologist and cystoscopy will also be required in the majority of cases, although in young people (age less than 40 years with no risk factors for urothelial malignancy) cancer is unlikely to be the cause.
To avoid having bacteria in urine, women are always advised to wear cotton underwear so as to allow the right kind of air ventilation into the urethra, drink a lot of fluids during the day and empty the bladder as often as possible by urinating whenever you get a chance to.
In addition, it can provide useful information related to screening and diagnosis of other conditions, including malignancy, proteinuria, glycosuria, ketonuria, and renal calculi.1 Accurate interpretation of urinalysis results is a key concept for health care providers in order to diagnose and treat patients appropriately.

One to two ounces of urine—a sufficient sample is required for accurate results; sometimes you may be directed to collect a sample using a "clean-catch" technique: women should spread the labia of the vagina and clean from front to back; men should wipe the tip of the penis.
Hemoglobinuria is suggestive of in vivo hemolysis, but must be distinguished from hematuria In case of hemoglobinuria, a urine dipstick shows presence of blood, but no RBCs are seen on microscopic examination. Urinary Tract Infections are one of the most common causes of healthcare visits.
