Taitung Souvenirs

I've been looking forward to visiting Taitung since coming back from Hualien in February because the east coast just really grabbed my heart. Sansiantai music concert at dawn of April 27th presented a harmonious cross-performance between V.K., Taiwan's most prominent cross-performing pianist who has also received wide acclaim throughout Asia, and National Taitung University Wind Band, indulging the public in welcoming the first daylight for Taiwan.
We will leave Taipei City after breakfast, and drive onward to the eastern coast. This protected heritage complex is today a creative oasis for local 台東必吃 and expatriate artists and craftspeople. It's located on Taiwan's southeast coast and is the third largest county by area after Hualien and Nantou.

Taitung City ( Mandarin pinyin : Táidōng Shì; Hokkien POJ : Tâi-tang-chhī) is a county-administered city and the county seat of Taitung County , Taiwan It lies on the southeast coast of Taiwan facing the Pacific Ocean Taitung City is the most populous subdivision of Taitung County and it is one of the major cities on the east coast of the island.
Just outside of Chishang town, on the cycling loop, is one of the rift valley's most photographed roads, Bolang Dadao (Brown Avenue”), made famous in a Mr. Brown Coffee commercial and an EVA Air commercial starring Japanese-Taiwanese pop-idol heartthrob Takeshi Kaneshiro.

While enjoying your 2011 New Year tour in Taitung, you surely do not want to miss taking hot spring baths at Jhihben Hot Spring Jhihben Hot Springs are odorless and colorless alkali carbonate springs with a temperature ranging from 45 to 56 degrees Celsius that are famous since the period of Japanese colonization.
Looking at the radiant and enchanting scenery in the lake water and listening to the birds chirping enable people forget their troubles and enjoy travelling around in nature. After you've seen the Taipei 101 and shopped the city's mega malls, get a sense of what Taipei was like decades ago with a visit to Dihua Street.
When I visited Blue Dragonfly, I realised that it is an institution in Taitung as most locals had their first experience with local fast food through Blue Dragonfly before McDonald's arrived in Taitung. Taitung people are friendly, conscientious and hospitable and have created many products unique to the county When you visit from afar, don't forget to take some of the things that made your taste buds dance to share with friends and family.

Later, we will continue the 8 days Taiwan tour with a drive across the Tropic of Cancer. The highest record of temperature of Taiwan was recorded in Taitung on May 9, 2004, with temperatures peaking above 40 degrees Celsius for the first time in Taiwan's recorded history.
Small Taitung City is the county's only city and its main transportation hub (rail service, domestic air service, intersection point for the region's two major highways, and launch point for ferries to Green Island and Orchid Island). Then, visit Luye Gaotai Tea Farm which famous of producing Fulu Tea.

An optional city tour would be available today or on your last day in Taipei. To experience the pulse of the city as well as its world-class foodie culture, head to the Shilin night market, Taiwan's largest. Situated on Taiwan's east coast where the Eurasian and Philippine Sea tectonic plates meet, it is home to an impressive geological landscape.
Offering a seasonal outdoor pool with a terrace, The Gaya Hotel is located in Taitung City, 328 feet from Tiehua Music Village. A Taiwanese man is considering what will be his family's next meal at one of the many street stalls in Taitung City. Most visitors spend one day and one night to circle the island on rented motorbikes and indulge in marine activities as well as sights like curious rock and coral formations with imaginative names like Pekinese Dog and Sleeping Beauty rocks.

This special island is definitely my favourite place in Taitung as the locals are so welcoming — contrary to the stereotypes that they are protective of their island and dislike outsiders. Although few travelers tend to make it to Taiwan's beautiful east coast, if you're looking for the best scenery on the island, there's no place better than this incredible stretch of coastline.
